A Few of the Wonderful Dogs Available for Adoption from Proverbs

Every Sunday, this blog will feature 5 or 6  dogs or cats, who are ready to be adopted from Proverbs 12:10 Rescue. If you're interested in any of the dogs, that you see here today, email Proverbs at: info@proverbs1210rescue.org

River
Because I have a dog named River, this every Sunday feature will commence with River, a setter-pointer mix, found up to her neck in water, tied to a bridge, during Nashville’s floods last winter. She’s energetic, and will need a fenced yard, and a family that has time to give her.

Rhett
Rhett, a treeing walker coon hound, was saved from being put down, at Animal Control. He is thin, but is eating well, and has done well, at his foster home. He’s about 55 pounds, about 4 years old.

Lexie is a lovely female Aussie shepherd/lab/chow mix, about 2 years old and weighs 37 lbs.  She is good with other pets,  and is heartworm negative, up to date on shots and has been spayed.  Lexie is a little shy around strangers at first.

Lexie was dumped at a shelter, by her former owner because, he claimed, she was afraid of everything. At Proverbs, she is so happy in the house. She was cowering in the corner of her cage at the shelter and wouldn't eat, when Proverbs rescued her. Now she eats well.

Lexi
She must be introduced to things. She would not run in the foster's pasture until she put her leash on and walked her around the whole place. Then the next day, she happily ran and sniffed everywhere. She does bark at strangers, but once familiar with a person, she is okay, as long as they are kind to her.

Sophie
Sophie, a mixed Mini Pinscher, about 8 pounds, came into rescue after being kept in a home that had been forclosed on, in the basement, in the dark in a travel crate with little room to move. She was let out one time daily to potty and eat.  This went on for 3 months until she was brought to rescue by a caring neighbor.  She had an injured front leg that has been looked at by an orthopedic specialist.  He states she will use her leg 50% of the time, but is in no pain, and the leg does not need to be removed.  She runs like nothing is wrong with the leg, gets along great.  Total lap dog.

Sweeney
Sweeney, about 3 years old, is a Border Collie Mix female that wandered to the rural home of a Proverbs volunteer in November, emaciated, but in good health, otherwise. She is 2-3 years old and weighed 44 lbs. She needs to gain a few pounds  She is housebroken and uses a doggydoor. She is good with men, women and other dogs. Sweeney walks with a limp in her right front leg, and  has anold shoulder injury that caused nerve damage in her shoulder,  resulting in
muscle atrophy through that shoulder and the limp. She can place her right foot, so nothing needs to be done for it. She doesn't realize she has an impairment as she runs with the other dogs.

If you believe that you could offer one of these wonderful dogs a forever home, please contact Lavonne at Proverbs, and she would be happy to provide additional information.
Happy 2012! All the best, from Susan, a Proverbs volunteer in Washington, DC!
